Everything about this establishment that we visited one evening to dine on some eel was spotless. From the clean open kitchen to the side dishes or "banchan" that were as fresh as the eels themselves, my dining partners and I were genuinely impressed with the chef/owner, who worked not only the kitchen but also the floor. It is not hard to imagine how eels got their reputation as an aphrodisiac, as their sheer energy and prowess are on full display in this upload. Whether true or not, one thing is clear: good eel is a true culinary treat, and when grilled perfectly over charcoal, it is both crispy and chewy on the outside and both meaty and moist in the center. As good as the eel was, the side dishes refused to be eclipsed. From the chives and water parsley, both tossed in wickedly good dressings, to the pungent perilla leaves and garlicky Ming Yi greens, every item on the table was there because it deserved to have a spot.
